Shah Rukh getting hate mails over multiple-captaincy
Durban, April 21 (IANS) Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) owner Shah Rukh Khan said he has been receiving 'hate' mails since the multiple-captaincy controversy brewed up a storm.
'I am getting strange hate mails from people for taking decision for the team's sake. But is is okay, I'm saving them all so that I can go to each house and say 'Korbo, Lorbo, Jeetbo,' Shah Rukh said after KKR beat Kings XI Punjab by 11 runs in an Indian Premier League match.
KKR coach John Buchanan's multiple-captaincy theory has raised a debate, specially in former captain Sourav Ganguly's city Kolkata. Ganguly's removal from the captaincy has left his fan indignant.
The Bollywood star asked Ganguly's fans to send positive responses.
'Along the way if we go wrong, please feel for us and send us positive energies.'
Shah Rukh also admitted the team is under a lot of pressure after the multiple captaincy theory.
'I know the team is under a lot of pressure after the multiple captains, the choice of captain and all that. At the moment the team is under a bit of a disarray, but we will stick together. We have started doing it,' Shah Rukh said.
'My team is under more pressure because it is owned by a film star and then you have such fan following, the backing of a city that supports you one night and gets angry the next night.'

IPL to start without star players
The Indian Premier League (IPL) is less than a week away but without a handful of stand-out players.
The league’s organisers pushed the dates back to 18th primarily to ensure the availability of South Africa and Australia’s players who finish their one-day series on the 12th, besides giving Indian players a deserved break after their victorious tour of New Zealand.
However these last minute changes have not helped the Twenty20 competition hold on to some of its star attractions.
Fortunately for the IPL, players from South Africa, New Zealand and Sri Lanka will be able to participate in the entire four-week event.
The irony is that this year’s IPL schedule clashes with negligible amount of international cricket. It clashes with five ODIs and a Twenty20 international between Australia and Pakistan in UAE, besides two Tests and ODIs between England West Indies midway through May.
Last year’s semifinalists Kings XI Punjab take the biggest hit as far as absent overseas players are concerned, followed by Deccan Chargers, Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders. On the financial front, the biggest loser Symonds, who cost Deccan Chargers 1.35 million dollars. Both Symonds and Lee will earn considerably less since the duo is off to UAE to play Pakistan later this month.
Players not available for whole event: Punjab: Brett Lee, Shaun Marsh, James Hopes, Jerome Taylor, Ravi Bopara and Sreesanth due to an injury; Delhi: Paul Collingwood, Owais Shah and Brett Geeves; Mumbai: Dwayne Bravo; Kolkata: Chris Gayle, Ricky Ponting, David Hussey and more than a few Pakistan players; Bangalore: Cameron White, Kevin Pietersen, Dale Steyn and Nathan Bracken; Deccan: Andrew Symonds and Fidel Edwards; Chennai: Michael Hussey and Andrew Flintoff; Jaipur: Shane Watson, Sohail Tanvir and Kamran Akmal.
IPL ideal preparation for World T20: Yuvraj
Mumbai, Apr 11 (PTI) Flamboyant Indian batsman Yuvraj Singh sees the second edition of the Indian Premier League in South Africa as the perfect dress rehearsal for cricket playing nations ahead of the World Twenty20 Championship in England in June.
"The IPL has come at the right time to help all (countries) to prepare for the T20 World Cup. It will give all the players lot of practice as each team will play at least 14 matches. It's going to get better, the World T20 Cup (because of IPL)," the left-hander told reporters here today.
Yuvraj, who is the captain of Kings XI Punjab, co-owned by Bollywood actress Preity Zinta, was here along with the latter to announce Emirates association with the Mohali-based outfit as its official team sponsor.
Yuvraj, who did not have a successful Test series in New Zealand which India won 1-0 to rewrite history in Kiwi soil after 41 years, said the Kings XI would play similar to what they dished out last year en route the semi-finals in the first edition of the cash-rich T20 league.
"We won 8-10 games (actually ten out of 14 before losing to Chennai Super Kings in the semi-finals on May 31, 2008) last year. We will play in a similar fashion," he said.
He, however, refused to be drawn into a debate on the controversial multiple captaincy theory put forth by Kolkata Knight Riders coach John Buchanan. PTI
